University of Chicago Venues

Smart Museum of Art

The modern David and Alfred Smart Museum of Art on the University of Chicago campus is known for its permanent collection of over 15,000 objects, displayed in four permanent collection galleries dedicated to modern, Asian, European, and contemporary art.

Ida Noyes Hall

This three-story, Neo-Gothic building on the University of Chicago campus was designed by Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge and completed in 1916. Originally designed to be a women’s gymnasium and social center, the building features fireplaces, a limestone exterior, intricately plastered ceilings, and elaborate wood paneling.

Promontory Point

This grand Mediterranean-Revival building operated as an exclusive country club for 70 years until it was purchased by the Chicago Park District in 1975, and is now listed National Register of Historic Places. The country club-like interior, grand ballrooms, cascading chandeliers, meeting rooms, and stunning art gallery make it an exceptional event venue. Green features of the park include a nature sanctuary and a butterfly garden.

South Shore Cultural Center

63rd Street Beach House

Completed in 1919, the elegant exposed-aggregate concrete Classical Revival style pavilion maximizes its Lake Michigan location with its open balconies and loggias, allowing for lovely lake views and comfortable breezes. Choose the covered Promenade with sun-drenched balconies on the second floor or either of the majestic courtyards on the ground level.
